Volunteers Terry Hennessy and John O’Dea

January 26th, 2010

Drs Terry Hennessy and John O’Dea spent a week working at the hospice in late November (Thursday 19th November to Saturday 28th November 2009). They played an active role in the clinical management of patients. They joined the daily routine with many home visits, clinic attendances and consultation at the local Jinja hospital. Working closely with the very experienced specialist nurses they were delighted to offer their experience and knowledge. This was a long remove from their normal working day.

Terry Hennessy is a consultant physician and cardiologist in the Mid-West Regional Hospitals in Ireland. John O’Dea is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in the same hospitals.

They were in awe of the dedication of the hospice team. The excellent standard of care provided to patients with very few resources was inspirational in their view. The photos provide a diary of the work undertaken by the hospice team.

They look forward to supporting the work of the hospice through fundraising and returning to work there again if required.
